Optional Accessories
When installing a pintle hitch, there are a few trailer hitch accessories that might be necessary. One such accessory is the mounting bar. Mounting bars are used when installing a pintle hitch to a vehicle. Shock absorbent cushioning is available with some mounting bars. A shock absorber is used to protect the contents of the trailer and the hitch assembly. Each mounting bar is built with 4-14 holes in them. The size and weight capacity of the hitch will determine what type of mounting bar is needed.
In some cases it is necessary to buy a pintle hitch adaptor. This device is used when a vehicle is not equipped with the right hardware for a pintle hitch. The adaptor provides a compatible surface for mounting a pintle hitch. These are mounted to weight distributing shanks or adjustable ballmounts. If necessary, replacement balls and pins can be purchased separately.
A pintle hitch is recommended for industrial strength hauling. They're designed to haul loads of 10,000 pounds or more.
